Mark founded the firm in 2007 when he commenced practice with one office in Brisbane and a staff of three. SLF Lawyers has since grown to a be a multi office practice in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, with now twenty-one lawyers and an overall staff of approximately fifty.
Mark built his practice on debt recovery, which includes securing debts owed to his clients. The practice expanded to include insolvency, corporate recovery, bankruptcy and general commercial matters. Mark’s practice has become more diverse including now acting for ASX 200 insurance companies in the area of motor vehicle and property claims, defamation claims and building and construction work. These matters have taken Mark to the Queensland Court of Appeal where he has represented clients in building disputes and where he has successfully had decisions overturned.
Mark prides himself in negotiating commercial settlements and takes a commonsense approach to legal proceedings. His aim is to be proactive and maintain at all times clear lines of communication with his clients to obtain the best possible results for them. Mark is always keen to attend on client’s needs and sees that empowering clients to understand and guide them through difficult matters is key to a successful practice.
Mark was formerly a teaching school principal and has an affinity for rural and remote areas. He is married with four children and is a rugby and cricket tragic.
